This report was developed jointly by UNDP and UNDRR in order to guide the next generation of disaster data systems (DDS).
UNDP and UNDRR conducted an in-depth analysis of the current status of national disaster database systems in 13 countries globally by applying UNDP’s Digital Disaster Risk Reduction Maturity Model (DDRRMM) assessments, which were developed to provide guidance to governments, help strengthen their disaster risk reduction efforts, and enable them to benchmark their progress towards the full potential of digital technologies for disaster risk reduction and identify areas of improvement.
This report provides in-depth analysis of the current status of 13 national DDS, and identifies the lessons learned and challenges that government stakeholders have had using the current DDS, as well as their demands for the next generation of DDS. The report then provides recommendations for the next generation of DDS that are tailored to the digital maturity of each country.
