Join us for a crucial Pre-COP29 briefing on Loss and Damage finance, focusing on supporting the most vulnerable communities experiencing the impacts of climate change.

As the global community approaches COP29, a key event known as the “Finance COP,” it is essential to address the growing need for a distinct financial mechanism beyond adaptation and humanitarian responses. This Loss and Damage Policy Lab (LDPL) will bring together local research insights from Bangladesh, Nepal, Vanuatu, and Senegal, drawing on experiences from the ground to highlight the limits of current adaptation and disaster risk reduction (DRR) efforts.

Experts will share the latest findings from the STRENGTH project, supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), to inform discussions around the operationalization of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD). The event will focus on identifying context-specific policy actions and financial needs to support communities facing existential threats due to climate change.

This event will provide a platform for sharing evidence-informed insights and catalyzing global advocacy for an effective and equitable operationalization of the FLD at COP29.
